The Second Academic Salon of 2023 Summer Program

The second academic salon of the Xiamen Academy of International Law Summer program 2023 was held on July 17, 2023 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:20 p.m. Seven participants from different countries and regions shared their academic knowledge, practical experience related to international law in this salon.

Tanya Liang, lawyer from Beijing Kangda (Xiamen) Law Firm, spoke about ways of international registrations about trademark, patent and design.And she also illustrated international protection for international registrations in a diagram.

Lu Yi Hsin, Attorney at Law, Deheng (Xiamen) Law Office,Invited Mediator, International Commercial Mediation Center for Belt and Road Initiative, introduced a inheritance dispute in the mediation center. She also introduced the MSR Law Ascertainment Center and illustrated a case about underground remittance.

Allen LIAN，a senior partner, Xufeng Law Firm,expressed his views on national security review on foreign investments into China from M&A lawyers’ perspective and introduced  the legislative history of China’s security review system.  In order to better illustrate this topic, he also briefly introduced a case of a supermarket chain.

Surakshya Khadka,Legal Officer, Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Nepal, spoke about the implementation of international human rights laws in Nepal and some instruments of implementation. She also introduced that Nepal homes around twenty thousand refugees officially recognized by United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.

Pratiksha Bhattarai,LLM in international law and commercial law,lawyer at Nepal Bar Council, country legal specialist at Huawei Technologies Nepel, introduced legal regime for implementation of international laws,major laws and government authorities regulating foreign investment in Nepal. She also pointed out the Intellectual Property Rights Law  and National IPR Framework for us.

Huang Jialin, attorny from Fujian Xufeng Law firm, International Mediation Expert at IDRRMI & the Mainland-Hong Kong Joint Mediation Center,international professional mediation coach at IDRRMI, shared her understanding of International Commercial Mediation.

Jerry Liu,lawyer from Fujian Yinghe Law Firm ,Xiamen Excellent Young Lawyer 2023 ,the president of Young Lawyers Association of Fujian Yinghe Law Firm, pointed out the issues related to cyber security,and spoke about the legal protection for cross-border data transmission.

In this international law academic salon, all participants put forward constructive suggestions, and conducted in-depth discussions on the research of frontier issues in international law, broadening the horizons of international law research. Positive feedback have been received from the participants.
