Prof. Robert D. Sloane

Robert David Sloane is Professor of Law and R. Gordon Butler Scholar in International Law at Boston University. He received his B.A., magna cum laude, with Departmental Honors in Philosophy, from Columbia University, his J.D. from Yale Law School, and a Diploma from The Hague Academy of International Law. His scholarship focuses on public international law, national security and foreign relations law, international criminal law, the law of war, international human rights, and jurisprudence, and he has published two books and more than 40 articles and shorter works in these fields. In 2007 and 2009, he received the Lieber Prize for outstanding scholarship in the law of war by an author under 35 years of age; and in 2013, the Francis Deák Prize for meritorious scholarship published in the American Journal of International Law by a younger author. Professor Sloane has been a visiting professor at Harvard, Yale, Michigan, and the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy.
